In July, it was revealed that election interference in China was ignored... Reasons for the delay in Trump's reforms
Declassified documents from the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) released by the White House Government Transparency Task Force on the 18th (local time). They contain emails among intelligence agents regarding the leadership's decision not to deliver reports to President Donald Trump. [Provided by the White House / Captured from The Epoch Times Online] The U.S. intelligence community failed to report information regarding China's interference in the 2020 U.S. presidential election to President Donald Trump for a staggering 16 months, according to a recent report by The Epoch Times.
According to a four-page collection of emails from March 2020 declassified by the White House Government Transparency Task Force on the 18th (local time), the leadership of the National Security Agency (NSA) at the time obtained information about China’s interference in the U.S. presidential election and, despite serious internal concerns, blocked the intelligence report from reaching President Trump’s desk.
In an email written shortly after a meeting to discuss intelligence reports on foreign attempts to interfere in the 2016 and 2020 U.S. presidential elections—efforts that began as early as 2014—one NSA employee expressed frustration, stating, "If we cannot even properly report threats for these reasons, I don't know why we are sitting here claiming to defend elections and identify threats." Another email indicated that NSA analysts had already suggested releasing the report back in 2018.
White House task force officials are currently investigating why evidence of the Chinese Communist Party's attempts to interfere in the election was not shared with the President, Congress, or even some senior intelligence officials, such as the then-Director of National Intelligence (DNI) John Ratcliffe (currently CIA Director).
One NSA analyst noted that parts of the report on China’s election interference were restricted from publication because "the details related to the 2016 election were considered 'incendiary,'" adding that colleagues had spent 16 months trying to officially publish the information. The analyst pointed out that "superiors above us, including the DNI (Office of the Director of National Intelligence), did not make substantive decisions in a timely manner and postponed them every time."
According to the documents, intelligence analysts began the priority delivery process after hearing that the report had been approved in February 2020, but the Deputy Director of the NSA ultimately blocked it. George Barnes served as Deputy Director of the NSA from 2017 to 2023.
The analyst reported that the "(NSA Deputy Director) was concerned that releasing a report delayed for two years amidst the current political climate—such as the inauguration of Acting DNI Richard Grenell, who was nominated by President Trump—would damage the credibility of the NSA." The explanation suggests that they feared the report's release would be perceived as politically motivated at a time when the Trump administration was critical of intelligence agencies and pushing for reforms.
Ignoring Evidence of Chinese Election Manipulation… The War Against the Existing Deep State
The analyst further explained that the Deputy Director feared that the NSA's political neutrality would be severely shaken if the report were made public. Consequently, the meeting concluded with the Deputy Director suggesting a workaround—sharing the information only with necessary analysts rather than issuing an official report—meaning the findings never reached the President's desk and were never disclosed to the public.
In this regard, The Epoch Times stated that it had requested comments from the NSA regarding the release of these documents but had not received a response by the time of the report on the 18th.
Meanwhile, it was previously revealed that shortly after the 2020 U.S. presidential election, the U.S. intelligence community systematically omitted or downplayed ("massaged") relevant clues in the "President's Daily Briefing (PDB)," the highest-level intelligence report delivered to President Donald Trump, despite having clear evidence of Chinese interference.
According to top-secret emails exchanged between the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) and the NSA—declassified on the 3rd of last month under President Trump’s declassification order and released on the White House website on the 16th—a tense internal conflict occurred immediately after the November 3, 2020, election between analysts seeking to ensure national interest and objectivity and factions attempting to dilute the intelligence due to political ramifications. The document is titled <Note to Election Threat 45 day ICA China Section Drafting Team>.
This period marked roughly two weeks of fierce internal ideological conflict within intelligence agencies following the November election. Critics point out that if the specific details had been reported in a timely manner, the President—as Commander-in-Chief—could have taken appropriate action, potentially preventing the extreme catastrophe of the "January 6th Capitol riot" that occurred the following year. Consequently, this series of cover-ups of Chinese election meddling by intelligence agencies is expected to be recorded as the worst "dark history" in the history of U.S. intelligence.
As President Trump mentioned in his public address on July 16, he confirmed that some members of intelligence departments aligned with the "deep state" (a shadow government that effectively holds global dominance based on financial leverage, etc.) engaged in intentional cover-ups or downgrading of intelligence classifications to neutralize information regarding China’s election interference. He thus announced, for the first time in history, the acts of election manipulation and interference committed by the Chinese Communist Party against the United States.
It has recently been revealed that shortly after the November 2020 U.S. presidential election, U.S. intelligence authorities concealed information about China’s election aggression, preventing President Donald Trump from responding in a timely manner and dragging the issue into the next year. This led to a tragic outcome where outraged American patriots were caught in the trap of the "January 6th incident," set by far-left forces like Antifa, ultimately setting back the opportunity to restore election justice in the U.S. by six years.
