While members of the National Assembly's special committee investigating election irregularities announced plans to visit the Olympic Park counting center on the 2nd, the Freedom and Innovation Party has announced a full-scale boycott of the parliamentary investigation.

In a statement released on the 1st, the Freedom and Innovation Party (led by former Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn) clearly expressed its refusal, describing the investigation as "a mere formality aimed at distorting the essence and twisting the truth."

In particular, the party criticized current lawmakers as "individuals who were elected through the very National Election Commission system currently under scrutiny," arguing that a politically-led investigation cannot restore election integrity.

Instead, the party proposed a "people's investigation" led by the sovereign citizens, demanding, "Re-count all 380 ballot boxes stored at the Olympic Park counting center in front of the entire nation via live broadcast."

Concerns regarding violations of judicial procedures were also raised.

The Freedom and Innovation Party noted, "We have filed a 'request for evidence preservation' with the court regarding the ballots and server records at the Olympic Park counting center," and pointed out that "unauthorized entry by the National Election Commission, which is the subject of the election fraud allegations, before the court’s final decision and enforcement, constitutes obstruction of justice that seriously damages evidence and acts as a deception to the public."

The party went on to strongly urge that the counting center be preserved in its original state until the court reaches a decision, warning, "If there is any attempt to tamper with the evidence, we will immediately file criminal charges and initiate a nationwide resistance movement."

A parliamentary investigation including lawmakers involved in a fraudulent election violates the principle of integrity, much like fraudulent ballots. Furthermore, conducting a ballot count with the election commission, which is a suspect in the fraudulent election, is illogical from a judicial standpoint. As the Freedom Innovation Party argues, rational ballot counting should be conducted by representatives of the people, who are the victims, and parliamentary investigation officials in a venue that the entire nation can watch.
