The U.S. military halted its airstrikes against Iran, which had continued for 13 consecutive days, following an order from President Donald Trump, the U.S. media outlet Axios reported on the 25th (local time).

According to sources, President Trump received a briefing on the airstrike plans from the U.S. military on the 24th, but he did not approve them and instead instructed the military not to proceed with the strikes.

As a result, the airstrikes against Iran, which had been ongoing for 13 straight days, were paused for the day.

However, it remains unclear whether this order was a one-time decision or if the suspension of airstrikes will continue for the foreseeable future.

It is reported that over the past two weeks, President Trump had been approving daily airstrike plans presented by the military each afternoon, with the strikes carried out within hours.

Sources stated that while the U.S. military continues to prepare contingency plans for large-scale military operations, President Trump has not yet given his approval for them.

The previous day, President Trump told reporters at the White House that he is in serious talks with Iran but warned that if no agreement is reached this time, he will take immediate military action.

President Trump said, "We are locked and loaded, ready to act at a moment's notice," while adding, "Even now, at this very moment, we are in talks with them."

At the White House Correspondents' Association (WHCA) dinner held later that day, he further stated that while he does not believe Iran is currently ready to negotiate, "I am willing to listen."

According to Israeli officials, the Israeli government and military leadership had anticipated further U.S. airstrikes on the 24th and had braced for potential retaliation from Iran and its affiliated militant groups.

However, it was reported that Israel was notified on the night of the 24th that President Trump had not authorized the additional airstrikes.

Axios reported that President Trump's order to halt the strikes came just hours after an Omani negotiating team arrived in Iran to discuss the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

Regional sources indicated that the negotiations are making progress and that an agreement between Oman and Iran could be reached over the weekend. A key variable going forward is whether President Trump will accept the proposal if an agreement is reached.
