“Battling cancer for two and a half years, it has spread throughout my body… yet I have a firm conviction that I will be completely healed.”

“South Korea is passing through a ‘tunnel of death’… but this suffering is also part of God’s plan.”

A missionary’s prophecy from 20 years ago during my time as a Handong Global University professor… “You will cross the Jordan River together with this nation.”

Wit from a wheelchair that moved the audience… “Once I recover, I will make the world even noisier.”

“No matter what suffering comes, we must pray for life, not death… Let us emerge from this dark tunnel together.”

A touching testimony that turned despair into hope… greeted with thunderous applause from the audience.

Kim Mi-young, CEO of VON News, who is currently battling cancer, made a surprise appearance at the NPK workshop held on the 21st, expressing her strong determination to overcome the illness. CEO Kim resonated deeply with the attendees, saying, “Although I have been battling cancer for two and a half years and it has now spread throughout my entire body, I have a firm conviction that I will be completely healed.”

Arriving at the venue in a wheelchair that afternoon, CEO Kim revealed her strong faith in her recovery, stating, “My health is significantly worse than it was when we declared the ‘NPK Together’ initiative while consulting for ‘Hidden Korea’ (Sumun-minguk), but I feel that I will fully recover. Choi Gyo-young, an NPK director and university hospital professor, essentially kidnapped me and guided me to a hospital that employs the world’s most advanced medical technology.”

She continued with a witty and cheerful remark that drew laughter and warm responses from the audience: “If I hadn’t collapsed this time, I wouldn’t have received this new cancer treatment. I felt that this trial was also a process prepared for my complete healing, and if I am healed, I think I’ll end up making the world even noisier.”

She then surprised everyone by sharing a ‘prophecy’ she had heard long ago.

CEO Kim disclosed for the first time a mysterious prophecy she received from an overseas missionary when she was a professor at Handong Global University about 20 years ago.

“I don’t particularly like the word ‘mysterious,’ but there is a testimony,” she said. “At the time, a missionary spent all day looking for me at the school and gave me a special prophecy: ‘You will cross the Jordan River together with this nation.’”

She added, “That was 20 years ago. At the time, I felt burdened by those words because I was already anticipating the process by which forces following Kim Il-sung would destroy the rule of law, liberal democracy, and the separation of powers.”

“As I’ve been battling cancer for the last two and a half years, I’ve been meditating on the fact that the Jordan River is not just a river of death, but a river of resurrection,” she said. “Even though I am experiencing the greatest pain of my life right now, if this pain is truly within God’s plan, then I must turn this river of death—this river of suffering—into a river of life.”

CEO Kim emphasized, “God has been giving me powerful inspiration through Ezekiel chapter 37 recently. That passage contains the message that the secret to transforming death into life—the power to turn dry bones into an army of life—belongs to the Sovereign Lord.”

She further stated, “Even if not everyone gathered here is a Christian, I believe everyone agrees that South Korea is currently passing through a ‘tunnel of death.’ When we humbly confess that we cannot reach the river of life by our own strength, I trust that the ‘Jordan River to be crossed together with this nation,’ prophesied by the missionary 20 years ago, will ultimately become a river of resurrection.”

In addition, CEO Kim cited Romans 8:37, which the missionary had referenced at the time—being “More than conquerors”—and asserted, “We are not mere conquerors, nor are we like Napoleon; we are something more, and we can only win when we hold onto the love of Jesus Christ until the end.”

Finally, CEO Kim concluded with a message of hope that received thunderous applause from the audience: “No matter what suffering comes, let us pray for life and existence, not death, and let us emerge from this dark tunnel together.”

Meanwhile, the workshop titled “Searching for Ways to Raise Up a Holy Next Generation,” hosted by the organization Rule of Law and Liberal Democracy (NPK; Chairman Maeng Ju-sung, Professor Emeritus at Hanyang University; First Secretary-General Kim Mi-young, CEO of VON News) was held for two days on the 21st and 22nd at the Team Retreat Center in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul. Guest speakers included Lee In-ho, Professor Emeritus at Seoul National University; Min Kyung-wook, former National Assembly member; Roy Kim, author of The Dandong Project; Alex Hamilton Lee, an AI and big data analytics expert; attorneys Kwon Oh-yong, Do Tae-woo, Lee Ha-sang, Jung So-young, and Kim Ji-mi; Kim Eun-gu, representative of the SNU Truth Forum; Kim Kyung-jae, former president of the Korea Freedom Federation; Kim Byung-joon, co-standing representative of the National Alliance for Election Integrity; Morse H. Tan, former U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for Global Criminal Justice; and Dr. Kang Hwi-joong, a 5·18 researcher.
