The Central Election Commission (CEC) held a committee meeting on the 22nd and stated that it "heavily accepts the investigation results of the fact-finding committee that there were systemic problems in election management."
In a press release on the same day, the CEC said, "We will make every effort to ensure fundamental institutional improvements are made so that situations that undermine citizens' right to participate in elections do not recur, by reviewing policy recommendations from the fact-finding committee along with measures to improve the election management system to be discussed in future parliamentary investigations."
Through the meeting held on this day, the CEC decided to submit all report materials from the fact-finding committee to the joint investigation headquarters of the prosecution and police, and simultaneously proceed with disciplinary procedures for related personnel based on the results of the special audit conducted by the independent audit office.
The CEC announced that Acting Chairman Wi Cheol-hwan recused himself and did not attend the meeting on this day.
