New polling data released by the White House on the 2nd (local time) shows that a majority of Americans support President Donald Trump's immigration enforcement policies and cooperation between state and local authorities and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
In a statement on the 3rd, Soni Patel, Deputy Director of the Republican National Committee (RNC) Rapid Response, cited the poll results released by the White House on Monday, stating, "President Trump has worked tirelessly to make America safe again, and the American people overwhelmingly support state and local governments working with ICE to remove criminal illegal immigrants from our communities."
He added, "Despite Democrat obstruction, President Trump has built the most secure border in American history, with border encounters at all-time lows, and the worst criminals are being removed from our streets every day. Promises were made, and promises have been kept."
According to a recent Harvard-Harris poll shared by the White House, a majority of Americans support a strong response to the Trump administration's obstruction of ICE operations:
▷ Overwhelmingly support the deportation of illegal immigrants who have committed crimes (73%)
▷ States and cities should not be sanctuary cities that obstruct federal law enforcement efforts (67%)
▷ Jails should turn over illegal immigrants who have committed crimes for swift federal deportation (67%)
The poll also confirmed widespread opposition to the obstruction and protests supported by Democrats, with 60% of respondents stating that Democrat influence is at play in resisting ICE, and 57% opposing calls to defy ICE.
A White House statement on Monday concluded, "These results expose the extremism of the radical left: while Democrats foment lawlessness and chaos, everyday Americans stand firmly with President Trump to deport criminals, reclaim sovereignty, and restore safety."
The Trump administration will never back down from pursuing policies that deliver on safe borders, safe streets, and America First.
A separate Syngal poll also supports the findings of the Harvard-Harris study.
In a statement, Brent Buchanan of Syngal polling said, "Voters see illegal immigration as a simple law and order issue. The data leaves no room for interpretation: Americans want the law enforced, they want illegal immigrants deported, and they will punish politicians who try to obstruct ICE from doing its job."
▷ 73% agree that illegally entering the U.S. is a crime.
▷ 61% support deporting illegal immigrants back to their home countries.
▷ 58% oppose Democrat calls to defund ICE.
▷ 54% support ICE enforcing the nation's federal immigration laws.
The White House statement asserted, "As radical left Democrats continue their reckless obstruction, two new polls have firmly confirmed that President Donald J. Trump's crackdown on illegal immigration has overwhelming support among the American people."
"From mass deportations of illegal immigrants who have committed crimes to empowering ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) to enforce our nation's laws, Americans are backing President Trump's policies. Democrat extremism is completely out of touch with reality."
Harris Poll and HarrisX conducted a poll of 2,000 registered voters for the Harvard Center for American Political Studies from January 28-29, with a margin of error of ±1.99 percentage points.
Syngal conducted a poll of 1,004 general election voters for the 2026 midterm elections from January 27-28, with a margin of error of ±3.09 percentage points for those results.
