Hwang Kyo-ahn, leader of the Freedom and Innovation Party, raised suspicions regarding the recent controversy over the Election Commission's alleged secret presence in a backroom within the Seoul Olympic Park Handball Gymnasium, stating, "It is difficult for anyone to understand logically," and urged for an immediate nationwide live recount of votes.

In his opening remarks at the party's Supreme Council meeting on the 22nd, Chairman Hwang strongly questioned, "No citizen will believe the Election Commission's announcement that only one facility management employee from the Korea Sports Industry Development Corporation, under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, was stationed in the gymnasium for over fifteen days." He pointed out, "There must have been several people going in and out of the gymnasium for more than fifteen days. I strongly suspect that the votes in the ballot boxes have already been tallied and they are only bringing this up now."

He specifically targeted the Election Commission's explanation regarding the detection of intruders and the welding of the door. Chairman Hwang countered, "They claim that after facility staff expelled the intruders who damaged the underground passage door, the door was welded. Is it plausible that the only person left was a welder?" He criticized, "Officials from the Korea Sports Industry Development Corporation are evading questions by saying 'I don't know' for facts that can be ascertained with a single phone call, and it is absurd that even the police were completely unaware of this fact until the media reported it."

He continued, "No matter how perfect one tries to be in hiding and manipulating votes, it will eventually be revealed. Since it is impossible to perfectly manipulate all ballots, evidence of fraudulent elections will undoubtedly emerge if a recount is conducted," proposing an immediate live recount as the simplest and most transparent solution.

As a specific method, he suggested, "All 380 ballot boxes must be recounted one by one, live-streamed to the entire nation, while being observed by each party, citizens, and youth. Comparing the results of the recount with the Election Commission's announcement will reveal whether it was a fraudulent election or not."

He expressed skepticism about verification at the parliamentary level. He pointed out, "Even if a parliamentary investigation and a special prosecution proceed in the future, the essence is highly likely to be obscured by political attacks and partisan disputes between the ruling and opposition parties as time goes by."

Chairman Hwang also directly refuted Lee Jae-myung's proposal for a one-point constitutional amendment and the introduction of electronic voting. He stated, "The intention behind bringing up a constitutional amendment in this situation is suspicious. The most transparent method for elections in South Korea is paper ballots, voting on the same day, and manual counting at polling stations. Early voting should absolutely be abolished," citing Taiwan and the election methods advocated by Freedom and Innovation as examples.

Finally, Chairman Hwang declared, "Freedom and Innovation will fight to the end against any pressure and oppression to protect the voting rights of the people and for the liberal democracy and fair elections of South Korea, and we will stand with the people."
