Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a reply to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, who had sent a congratulatory message marking the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, expressing his commitment to developing bilateral cooperation in a long-term and stable manner.

The Korean Central News Agency reported on the 5th that President Xi sent the reply containing this message to Chairman Kim on the 1st.

Expressing his gratitude for the congratulatory message, President Xi stated that "the Workers' Party of Korea and the Communist Party of China are both Marxist ruling parties."

President Xi assessed that "for a long time, the two parties of China and North Korea have united and led their respective peoples, sharing joys and sorrows during the challenging days of striving for national independence and liberation, relying on each other, sharing life and death, and striving steadily as they march forward along the broad path of socialist construction."

He further stated, "By joining hands, we have promoted the continuous development of the causes of our two parties and two countries, and have injected strong momentum into the China-North Korea friendship that is passed down through generations."

President Xi also noted that his visit to North Korea on the 8th and 9th of last month was successful and expressed his commitment to implementing the agreements reached between the leaders of the two countries.

He emphasized his willingness to "guide the China-North Korea relationship to develop in a long-term, sound, and stable manner, thereby promoting the stable and long-term development of the socialist causes of both countries," and added his intention to "actively contribute to regional and, furthermore, global peace, stability, development, and prosperity."

Previously, Chairman Kim had sent a congratulatory message to President Xi on the 1st to mark the anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, reaffirming his commitment to the development of friendly relations between the two countries.

Chairman Kim had also sent congratulatory messages to President Xi on the 95th anniversary (2016) and the 100th anniversary (2021) of the founding of the Communist Party of China.

Socialist nations like North Korea and China place particular importance on "jeongjunyeon" (anniversaries that fall on every 5th or 10th year), often scaling up commemorative events and exchanging high-level congratulatory messages.
